The quiet voice of the respected leader halted the cats of Starclan from leaving the area of the pool of water where they met. All eyes were riveted on the brown tabby of Skyclan.
What is it Falconstar?
The second voice belonged to a Stormclan leader, Brightstar. The orange and white she-cat stepped closer, as did the other two leaders of that time. Petalstar and Moonstar felt their fur bristle as Brightstar's eyes widened. The four, close friends who had lived two lifetimes together, looked at each other. Finally, it was Moonstar who broke the tense silence.
It can't be...This is meant for...us?
The other cats who had been there were crowding in, curiosity overwhelming them. There were various calls asking what it was, what they had seen. The four, still brave in facing danger in their death, turned to the other cats of Starclan and spoke the words they had seen.
One to two
And two to four
Lives of peace
Will turn to war
Mortal to spirit
And return again
No one knows
How it will end
The silence lasted for only a moment before confused, terrified, and concerned cries all merged together.
Stop this chatter! We will go back for now and return again at the next mortal moonrise to discuss this!
Petalstar was the demanding voice this time. Just by the way they stood strong in the face of this new terror that imposed on them, it was clear why it had been these four leader who had been reborn once before and who had been known throughout the clans as some of the greatest leaders. But even they, with all their knowledge, bravery, and determination, had no idea just how bad things would get.
Even before their meeting there were cats who began complaining of hunger and thirst. Some of the older elders had begun to feel the aches and pains of arthritis again, and there were rumors of darkness coming closer from across the midlands. Life is changing for the ancestors of the clans, and it is not for the better.
